Are Online Lottery Tickets Safe?
Safety depends on the operator and product, not the words “online lottery.” A useful check covers who runs the service, what is purchased and how money and ticket proof are handled.
Operator transparency
Look for a legal entity, physical or registered address, terms, privacy notice, responsible-gaming information and relevant licensing or authorisation.
Ticket proof
If a courier claims to buy official tickets, its terms should explain how the purchase is evidenced and what happens to the original ticket.
Payment and KYC
Regulated gambling businesses can require identity verification. That should be disclosed in terms and privacy documentation. Be suspicious of anyone asking for passwords or one-time authentication codes.
Prize scams
You cannot win a legitimate lottery you never entered. Treat unsolicited 'winner' messages requesting advance fees as a major warning sign. See lottery scam warning signs.
